A University professor at a well-known institution of higher learning challenged his students with this question. "Did God create everything that exists?"

A student bravely replied, "Yes he did!"

"God created everything?" The professor asked.

Yes sir, he certainly did, " the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything; then God created evil. And, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then we can assume God is evil."

The student became quiet and did not answer the professor's hypothetical definition. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "May I ask a question, professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exit?"

"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold? The other students snickered at the young man's question.

The young man replied, "In fact, sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-460 FFF) is the total absence of heat; and all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat." The student continues, "Professor, does darkness exist?"

The professor responded, "Of course it does."

The student replied, "Once again you are wrong, sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton's prism to break white light into many colors and study the various wave lengths of each color. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn't this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."

Finally, the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"

Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course, as I have already said. We see it! Everyday. It is in the daily examples of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil."

To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist, sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like cold that comes when there is no heat, or the darkness that comes when there is no light."

The professor sat down.

First volleyball game was pretty fun. It made me realize how many people I miss and how many I wish would just drop out of school. So one week away from a new school year... This one should be intersting. I did a bunch of newspaper research today so I'm really hoping to pitch the idea to Mr. Kelly fairly soon here. I hope he lets me go through with it. Honestly it will be the highlight of the year.

World Trade Center

Okay so I just got back from seing the movie "World Trade Center" and damn. It was intense to say the least. Perhaps the best and the worst movie I've ever seen. I swear I had my eyes covered for a good chunk of it. And yes, I did cry. Wow there were so many times I just wanted to get up and leave, but I was just rooted to my seat. I couldn't move if I had wanted to.

I suggest seing it.

Dang I just finished 10 mini packs of poprocks in a matter of about five minutes. Man they're good!

Two words. Long day.

We moved my oma (german for grandma) to the masonic home from the hospital. She looked so scared. I could just see her mind racing and her eyes were nearly constantly watering. It made my heart wrench.

Now I'm scared for her, and a bit for myself I must admit.

Lizzie was my hero of the day though. Meeting her at Baker's Square was amazing. Who knew they had more than pie? Haha. Actually the food was rather good. You have no idea how glad I am that I saw her.

Lately I feel... unwanted. A few of my friends seem to be breaking away from me and I'm really not sure what I did.

You know how sometimes people get a piece of brocolli stuck in their teeth at dinner? How everyone around that person is annoyed by that chunk of green. Then later on the person discovers the piece of brocolli and is completely embarassed to have not noticed it and it's disgraceful tendencies before.

Yeah you know the scenario. Well lately I'm the brocolli. I feel like I'm being ignored only to be talked about behind my back by my so called friends who really only tolerate my presence so they have a topic in which they can vent all their frustrations out on.

I'm sick of Randolph. I just want to move back home.

On a higher note I did well at a horse show yesterday. Two first place plaques for barrel racing and pole weaving and a second place ribbon for 4 in a line.

Well I suppose I should head off to work now. This is not promising to lighten my mood. Also the rain which usually cheers me up is proving to be as gloomy as poets describe it to be.

Okay so I'm starting to get the hang of this livejournal thing. Obviously I'm no where near where I want to be, but I'm getting there.

I'm really excited for tomorrow though! Alex, Lizzie, Megan B., and myself are going to a teen night club! Yay for dancing!! I'm bouncing up and down just thinking about it!! Surprisingly enough Alex is more excited than me.

I don't think Liz and Megan are quite so thrilled, but perhaps mine and Alex's enthusiasm will rub off on them soon enough.
